Our friend, Tom, turned 50. His wife, Judy, put on a wonderful party for him in their backyard with fresh taco's by their favorite taco maker (who used to have a cart downtown Ft. Madison but doesn't currently.) He cooked at their wedding too…they love this guy…ang for good reason.
We enjoyed the opportunity to meet some of their other friends, hear stories about them (all good) and have the wonderful Spiderman cake!
The flys were biting like mad which was the ONLY thing that was uncomfortable! But, in retrospect, it has reminded me of the party every time I scratch!
We wish Tom many more birthdays and hope we have the opportunity to share some with them, they put on a heck of a party!
When you are looking to accent a certain room, what can say more about your style and taste than a Clocks at 1-800-4CLOCKS It shows that you are aware of lines, of ease of visibility, and tones to match your decor’. By choosing the right wall clock you can set the entire tone for the room.
There are many styles, many wood tones and other finishes to captivate your guests and family, but make sure that the one you choose it right for your home. The selection should not be difficult, you look at what is available and immediately you should sight onto the one that fits your needs. Other people may choose other styles, but you need to pick the one that is right for you!
In my case I would choose the Howard Miller Helmsley. This wall clock offers an Acanthus leaf molding on the pediment and base with reeded columns accenting the sides. Since my home is a historic home built in 1858 I certainly would not feel right putting in a ultra-modern design. This clock is just lovely, would fit into my decorating style and, without being the only eye catcher in the room, add a quality piece of furniture to the room.
Regardless of the type of clock you are looking for, the selection of clocks available from www.1-800clocks.com will certainly assist you in finding just the right one at just the right price!
If you are a corporate traveler you know what it is like to go from hotel room to hotel room, the space is normally not as large as you would like, there may be a chair or two to sit in but maybe not. You have a small desk area to work at in some rooms and having someone over for a business meeting is nearly impossible, there just isn't room. Try Luxuray Apartments where you can not only have the space you want to move around, but a selection of locations, types of units, choice of length of stay and maid service.
You will be more refreshed, ready to tackle the business that sent you to the city and able to relax at the end of the day. It doesn't get much better than that for a road warrior!
If you just want to get away and be pampered for a day, or take some friends for a luxurious spa treatment, they can assist you with that too! Just think about having some time to relax, get a massage by a skilled therapists, have a facial that will leave you refreshed and beautiful. Take some friends along, the price is about what you would pay for a less exotic location!
JMP Travel has locations throughout Europe and worldwide available for you so be sure to check them out, you will be glad you did!
I recieved my first payment to my paypal account from Payperpost today. That was exciting! I just hope they keep adding more opportunities to participate in so the amount will grow!
LAPBAND Adjustable Gastric Band is the application of a inflatable silicone band around the upper part of your stomach which will restrict the amount of food that you require to feel full. It is one of the alternatives to weight reduction, particularly for the extremely heavy person.
Rather than the old surgery that required a large incision to band off the stomach, this is done with tiny incisions and a narrow camera is inserted onto one of the openings to allow the Journey Lite surgeon to accurately see where to attach the band.
Do you know someone that has had alzheimer's or has it now? Do see how a cure for Alzheimer's could enhance the lives of everyone around the patient? The Alzheimer's Memory Walk is a method to raise awareness of this horrifying disease and to help raise funds to assist in the financing of care, support and research to end this terrible tragedy.
The walks are held in 600 communities across the nation, they are on a weekend in the fall which means it's a beautiful time to get out with friends and family for a 2 to 3 mile walk while helping the Alzheimer's Association and enjoying the beauty of the fall. All that you need to do is to put together a team of friends, family or co-workers and go for a walk!
The Alzheimer's Association has set up a site for you to register your team and walk location, it can be used to help with the fundraising campaign too. This is not difficult, it is fun, beneficial to all involved and may, ultimately, help in preventing you or your loved ones from getting Alzheimers!
Are you looking for an activity for your club? Perhaps the Rotary or Lions Clubs would be interested in participating in the Memory Walk. At your next meeting ask them, invite them to participate. Their purpose it to serve mankind, well, this is certainly serving mankind in a positive manner, healthy for the members and beneficial to all concerned!
It is so easy, it is going to be fun and you will be glad you became a team captain for the walk, you can go to bed that night knowing that you did something to make a difference in someone's life…perhaps your own!
We were pleased to host the Ambassador from
The opportunity to meet Ambassador Ogego and his beautiful (and very funny) wife Rose was delightful. They brought coffee, tea and a beautiful purse for a gift and believe me, the coffee is fabulous! The purse is so pretty, I moved my stuff over right away!!
We gave them vegetable ivory gifts. Rose looked absolutely stunning in the orange necklace, bracelet and earrings. Just beautiful!! We gave the Ambassador an elephant sculpture. The look on his face when I gave it to him was priceless….ivory? To the Ambassador of the country that is trying to stop the slaughter of elephants?? So, when I explained that it was vegetable ivory from the Tagua nut of the Tagua palm he really checked it over and then said it was beautiful. Didn't mean to scare the poor guy, but glad that he was impressed with the ivory once he knew it wasn't elephant.
I went to the hotel yesterday to drop off their phone bill. Told them that I had made the change and they needed to get it in their name or not have long distance service as of tomorrow. Hope they get it taken care of, but guess I really don't care as long as the bill isn't coming here anymore. I was shocked and disturbed with the appearance of the front desk clerk. Instead of in a uniform she was in yellow
We went to the fair in
We went to the tourism building and got some good leads for IB, that was nice (and it was air-conditioned which was even nicer!) The Varied Industry building was mobbed, no matter where you went you were run over. I did get a pass for Rotary (which I missed tonight) so it was a good thing we stopped at that booth. There were few demonstrations; it was more like being in a mini-mall with so much stuff for sale on site.
One neat thing was the Shriners’ were running golf carts between the gate we parked near and the entrance of the fair so we didn’t have to walk that distance, the money that is donated for the ride goes directly to the Shriners’ Hospital, neat deal for them to do!
We asked about the horse shows at the horse barn and found out that most of the shows are held the week before the fair now, darn. That’s one of the things we liked to do at the fair, but, not to be.
After walking around, eating a corn dog and having a soda, looking at the different displays in the buildings we decided it was enough and headed for Prairie Meadows for the races. Now, that was fun! We didn’t even lose our money (well, I did - $10 of it) but Greg came out either ahead (by a few cents) or broke even. Not bad for a few hours entertainment. One sad thing though, a horse broke his leg right at the end of the race so I would envision that they had to put him down, it looked nasty. He didn’t go down but he wasn’t able to use the foot at all, the jockey jumped off as soon as the ankle broke to take his weight off the horse. So sad to see but their legs are so thin that it happens more than we ever want to know.
Then we headed for home. Nice day.
I did call Jimmy to see if he had any cubicles left at his place that he’s want to sell but he sold them all years ago. Had heard that he had lost the license for the liquor store but that is obviously not the case since he’s still there. Welter’s in CR has some cubicles so we’ll probably have to go that route.
Wow, this is crazy! Our kids live in AZ and they are supposed to have the high temperatures, not us! The news tonight said that of the 12 days so far in August 8 have been over 90 degrees and the humidity has been around 70. Now, that's NUTS. No, I don't think is "global warming", I think it is nature. The world goes through cycles of temperature changes, has since the beginning of time and we are now seemingly in another phase.
It's pretty weird when you get excited because it is only supposed to reach the upper 80's tomorrow. But, that being said, it's better than the 90's and so we will probably go to the Iowa State Fair. Maybe. We talked about it today but it was just too darn hot to even want to think about it.
We are trying to get ahold of an old acquaintance to see if he still has cubicals for the office, and to see if he is interested in selling some. Decided we would rather have cubicals than just desks, a little more comfortable for the staff and easier to talk on the phone. We have the phones and power ordered, the deposit on the office paid so guess we are getting closer. Won't be able to get in until about the 3rd of September, it will take the owner that long to get the office ready. Then, on to the sales of IowaBeautiful.com. It's pretty exciting actually.
