Fall is arriving with a wet, dreary day.  Although fall actually began the 21st, it was hot and humid that day, today is more like we are used to this time of year.  Not cold, just not summer.

The trees will probably be turning in the next few days, maybe when my husband gets home we can go out to Geode and walk through the woods, look at the beauty of fall and smell the fresh crisp air.  That would be lovely, maybe we will take a picnic lunch and eat at the lake.  If the day is warm it would be so nice to spend the day with good food, maybe some wine and peace and quiet.  That sounds so good to me.

If the trees turn the beautiful colors they sometimes do the drive from Missouri into Iowa on 27 will be outstanding.  Or from Iowa to Missouri for those that are headed south for the winter.  The rolling hills that are covered with trees should be beautiful.

I took a couple of pictures of the corn before picking on those hills, with the farm house in the background.  It is a pretty time of year even though we know it will soon be covered with snow and cold.  It's all part of living in Iowa.

It was nice to be home today, I got quite a bit done and will finish up tonight.  Mercy was even glad to see me (for a few minutes) tonight, she jumped up on MY chair, got petted for a few and then went down to the foot rest and laid down.  Didn't particularly want to be petted, just wanted to flip her tail over my foot and lay there.  That was ok with me.

After I got back from Missouri I dropped Shawn's cigarettes off at her house and visited for a little bit.  She was telling me how glad I should be that we are out of the hotel.  The pool feeder line got a split in it which made the whole thing leak so they had to rip out the concrete, take out the old pipe and install new.  Then they had to replace equipment in the pool mechanical room.  Wow, that could not have been cheap…she's right, glad we are gone from there.  But….that's not all.  The elevator hydraulic pump caught on fire and literally burned up, fire and all.  It should have been under warranty since we just had it replaced a few months ago, but, Dillup apparently didn't take my advice and keep the elevator maintenance agreement with Shoemauker so they had to pay for it.  Wow!  Dumb move on his part (or the new owners, not sure which one made that decision.)

Shawn also told me that Dillup has a serious drinking and gambling problem.  He goes to the boat regularly, I guess, and blows lots of money.  He leaves his wife and kids at the hotel and the front desk is responsible for babysitting.  It will be interesting to see how long that lasts when the owner and his wife return.  Maybe it won't matter and Praveen will go to the boat with him.  Not my problem!!

Well, that's about it for tonight, just grateful that we don't own the hotel anymore!

It is always neat to have an auction in my own town rather than having to drive, so today was especially neat.  My friend, Gayle, went with me, I saw a bunch of other people that if it hadn't been for the auction I probably wouldn't have had a chance to visit with too.

Gayle didn't stay for the whole auction, there wasn't anything there that she was interested in, although she got to visit with a bunch of people too.

It was a treat to run into Suzy.  Suzy was our house cleaner for years, she quit when she graduated from college, thinking that she would be getting a job that would not allow her the time to clean anymore.  That worked out for us too since we had made the decision to not have her come anymore since we were home.  She said that although she had an offer during her internship, which she felt she couldn't take since she had to finish her internship, she hasn't had one since.  She said had she known how long it would take to find a job she would not have quit her housekeeping jobs.  Now she is looking for a few houses to clean to just get some income.  The problem with that will be that when she does get one she will have to quit again….tough time for her.

Larry and Julie were there.  Larry is all about poker now.  He plays 3 nights a week (or at least plays at 3 casinos) so I assume he is doing well.  He said that Riverside is tough, that there are really good players there but he plays so must do ok.

Sharon was there too, she said that Allison had a good time at Shay and Kara's.  Had a little scare (for Sharon) on the way home when she called and said that they had been off loaded at the airport because the plane had mechanical problems.  Sharon said she called Scott who assured her that Allison was safer flying home than Sharon was driving to Chicago to pick her up.

I've talked to my husband a few times today, it still sounds like things are going well.  I'll be glad when he's home.

Now it's time to fix dinner and finish listing and do the housework that I have put off all day!  Don't want to leave it for Sunday, some would be ok, but not all!

It may be that payday loans are the answer for those that can't go to the bank and borrow a small amount of money, which is probably the majority of workers that don't have an established credit line with their bank.  For those emergencies that come up and you need the money in a hurry you can go to payday loans and prove that you make at least $800 a month and get a loan.

You will want to pay the loan back with your next pay check since the interest rate is rather high, but if you just need it to cover the emergency until payday then this may be a solution for you.

There are pay day loan offices in many cities and some smaller towns to help you out.

It is Friday and I am home, that's different than it was when I was in CR for those months, at the hotel. I would get home on Friday then too, but it would be Friday night, now it is Thursday night travel time and so I am home all day on Friday.  It’s wonderful.  Otherwise there are so many similarities it is almost frightening.  Let's see, Monday morning you leave the house early so that you can be at work in Des Moines by 10 am.  Then, the nights are spent in a hotel room.  The morning is off to the office and then back to the hotel.  It is not so bad when Greg is with me, but I must admit that doing it alone is boring.

Now, Wed nights are ok, there is an auction.   That breaks up the week pretty well (and has the potential to make us some money) and it's a chance to visit with people that are not related to the business. Now, this is a totally different crowd than I am used to having at the auctions I go to on the weekends, they are truly Southsiders.  Nothing wrong with that, most seem to be really nice, it's just that they are definitely Southsiders.  If you aren't familiar with Des Moines this wouldn't make any sense to you, but if you are, enough said.

Another difference to the "old days" is that when I get home I am not as exhausted as I was from CR.  Now, it could be because I actually get some sleep, no night audit calling at 2 am to just visit after I went to bed at midnight or later and get up at 6!  Another plus is that we don't have the overhead that we had in CR.  Although there is overhead, it is no where near what it was there.  Thank goodness!!  It means that I can actually get things done on Friday rather than sleeping all day Saturday and then trying to get everything done on Sunday before leaving again.  It’s a great deal better now.

We are staying at the Baymont in West Des Moines.  It is a wonderful property, clean, great beds and nice GM.  We didn't even know it was there before we got the deal set up, sure am glad that we are there, it's nice.

It is always best when Greg is with me, but with him taking care of the kids I am on my own.  It works but I will sure be glad to see him when he gets home.

When you are going to travel the one thing that you don't want to have to do is spend a long time looking for the best deal for a hotel in the area you are visiting.  The site HotelsCombined.com will take the time down considerably.  By comparing 30 sites at once you only need to visit this site, not lots of others.

It's a highly rated site that should be tried to see if it fits the needs that the traveling public has in finding the right hotel at the right price in the right location.

It finally happened, Mercy decided that I was better than nothing.  Her dad isn't home so I'll have to do, she actually spent about a half an hour on my lap getting brushed and snuggled.  Lots of hair in my face but it was sweet.  The major difference is that she spent about a half an hour with me and spent all day, last weekend, with Greg.  Who do you suppose she loves most!

Now she is sitting in the living room looking around, think she is still checking to see if Greg is coming home.  Poor thing!

The phones are on the blink so will work on getting them up and going again in the morning.  They will ring, Cyn said she could hear me but I couldn't hear her and get no dial tone.  Strange.

Anyone that has a fireplace and is looking for a mantel clock that will set off the whole room needs to check out the mantel clocks on this site to have a wide variety of options for every taste. We have a house that was built in 1858 so we aren't furnishing it with ultra modern furnishing, but neither are we furnishing it with all antiques, it just isn't our style. The clock by Howard Miller  is one that would look beautiful on our mantel.  It is just right, in my opinion.  When we look for things to add to our home it is usually something that will enhance the rest of the decor' either with style or color and this particular clock would do just that.   .  In the instance of a mantel clock it would be a central focus in the living room which is the first room you see when you enter our foyer area.  I believe our home is one of the most beautiful in the community so things that go on or in it must be "just right."

Read what some of the others have to say about the site and the choices.  When reading about clocks I found this blog interesting since it tied not only the beauty of a clock in the blog but also the personality.  Each clock has a personality that is being displayed, traditional, conservative, modern, artsy or something else that says something about you and the clock you have chosen.

There are lots of places to find clocks but none are as easy or have the variety that this site has available for you to choose from. Check it out; see if there isn't something there that will make your home just a little bit more stylish, regardless of the era, there is a clock for you!

Ok, I know that my husband is off babysitting our grandkids and that is one type of rewarding babysitting.  Let me share the OTHER type…it's called employees!  Geez!  It is often eluded to that women are gossips and have so many "problems" that they need to discuss during work, well, let me tell you, men do too!

I just got done telling the guys to leave the religious and personal discussion for lunchtime and to please get back to work.  Now, they know better, no work, no money.  But, still, the discussion was getting lengthy and so the mean old boss lady had to go in and suggest a change of direction.  Like, "get to work" only nicer.  Sure did shut down the discussion in a hurry, now they need to get back to the phones.

I had told my husband, when we sold the hotel, NO MORE employees, NO MORE babysitting.  Well, that lasted about a month LOL

The guys are great, they are actually working quite hard and will be super, it's focus.  Gosh, is that a typical issue for all of us…focus!

On the other subject, I laughed so hard when I read Greg's daily posting about his adventures babysitting.  What a great attitude and it sounds like he is actually having a pretty good time…and I think I'll turn the cooking over to him fulltime when he gets home!!

On to more posting on payperpost.  Shoot, there was one that I did this morning that was a $19 hit…like those!!
