So many people are now facing the nightmare of not being able to pay their mortgages in full due to the increase in the interest rate of the adjustable mortgage rate.  The adjustable mortgage  has its place, but in most instances they should only be used to get the initial loan and then the borrower should watch closely and get a lock on a set mortgage rate as quickly as possible.

When you are facing an adjustable mortgage you face the possibility of having your rates go so high you can't possibly make the payment, particularly if you were a buyer that just made the cut in being able to qualify.  Is it the problem of the bank loaning you the money?  Well, that's certainly part of it.  Part of it is the desire to own a home prior to actually being able to afford one.  Part of it is the pressure of "the Jones Syndrome" where all your friends have a house and you want one too, before you are financially able to handle any changes in the rate or the monthly costs of owning a home.  What if the gas price to heat your home increases dramatically?  What if the sewer rates double (as has been happening more often all over the world)?  What if your insurance rate goes up?  All of these need to be considered when you are buying a house.  Then you add in the adjustable mortgage rate and you have a real issue to deal with when you least can afford it.

Should the government get involved and help with the rate?  Should the bank give you a break?  Maybe to both, but don't count on it.  You are the one that took out the loan and are solely responsible for paying it off.  What about re-financing?  Is it an option?  Do you have payment protection insurance on your home?

If you are in a position that you just can't make it, then work with your bank to get your house sold for the best price you can rather than to face a foreclosure.  There are programs that will work with you to avoid a foreclosure if at all possible.  Then, it may mean that you take another part time job, or your spouse takes a part time job along with the full time job, maybe you have to work weekends, maybe it's "beneath" you to "flip hamburgers at $8.00 an hour" but if it saves your home, and you only have to do it for awhile, you are going to have to choose what is best for you and your family.

I will need to call Cyn later today to make sure she arrived home safely since I left my phone at the hotel this morning.  Greg has his so it's not a big deal, we aren't phoneless for the night.

We are going to the auction tonight.  I still need to double check with Andy and Deb to make sure they are going along.

Our neighbor in the office (not Mike, he's cool) but Alberta Kibbe (tax lady) has gotten notice from our landlord to clean up her place or get out.  We came in on Monday and there was a roach running across my desk.  I picked up the phone and called Kevin and told him I wanted the bug man here, that I may pay for the office but I don't pay for the roaches.  When he came he wanted to know if we had any idea what was causing them, since our place is so clean.  I said, yes, go look at Alberta's office, it's filled to the brim with junk, she hauls things in and out on a daily basis, is sleeping there with her kids (big fat older kids…like 20's and 30's) and the place is filthy.

He went over, took one look and lost it.  Told her to clean it up, now, or get out.  He was back yesterday to check on the progress and served her some paper, don't know what that was.  But hey, the place looked like Linda Anderson's house in Amboy!!  Poor Mike (he shares the other half of the office area) has to be going crazy with that mess, his place is clean.

Now to work for the day, it's sunny and cool so should be a good day to make some money!

One of the most frustating things that can come out of an accident is to find out that the guy that hit you doesn't have insurance or has just enough to qualify to get his plates.  Where does that leave you?  Well, if you know about it you can put in a claim with you own company for uninsured motorist coverage.

If you need assistance there is a law firm that has experience in just this type of situation, that law firm is The Law Office of Jonathan Light.  You can go online and contact them or find out more information to see if this firm will be the right one for you to work with on your case.

I am just about to start linking again, it is a non ending occupation.  In order to get to where we need to be on all of our sites it takes linking to other sites, the more linking the better ranking.  It really isn't hard, it's just boring.  Over and over again, a drone should be programmed to do this!

Other than that, I had a mistake on eBay this week in shipping.  I sold two different plates with yellow roses as the pattern.  Obviously that should not be difficult to fulfill.  It wouldn't have been a problem if I had sent the right plates to the right buyers!  Fortunately both of them are very nice, just different patterns.  I received a really nice email from Carol stating that although the plate is beautiful, it isn't the one she bought.  That meant that I had to research to see who I had sent the other plate to, I am now waiting for a response from her letting me know that she will be willing to help get it resolved.  Sure hope she didn't fall in love with the "wrong" plate!

We are planning to go to the sale tomorrow night with Andy and Deb.  We'll see if it all works out for both of us, it should.  It starts at 5:30 tomorrow night instead of 6 so that may push Deb some, she gets home about 5:15 from work.

We decided to get microwave dinners tonight rather than eat out.  Now, $3.04 sure beats the price of any place we could eat out, but, ummm, it wasn't the best in the world.   Probably will have to find something other than TV dinners and mac and cheese next time.  Kinda made me think that being hungry until morning may have been a good option LOL.

Got a message from Cyn saying she doesn't have to be in Maine tomorrow so she will be back in Tucson tomorrow instead.  Glad she let me know, that way I won't fret.  I'm good at fretting!

The holidays are coming, the shopping will get going full swing really soon, but, the best day to shop is on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) when everyone is together for the weekend and conversations go to what everyone needs to buy.  Take the time to go to blackfriday and find out how you can save a bunch of both time and money by purchasing what you want online.

You can set it up so that when one of the stores puts out a new offer or coupon you will receive an email alert.  That will help you stay on top of the stores coupons and discounts that you are interested in shopping.  When the alert comes in you will have the opportunity to go to the site, see what's new and decide if the offer is one in which you want to participate.

Gather everyone together around the computer (of course you will probably be there anyway looking for deals) and click on the site to find out what discounts and coupons Sears has to offer.  There are other opportunities besides Sears to shop so look them over, have a great time shopping while drinking eggnog or wine, eat some left over turkey, visit with everyone and get your shopping done.

Have a great, holiday shopping experience at Black Friday!

Ok, so Steve showed up for work today and actually may work out, hopefully.  He can do it if he wants.  I, of course, am keeping it on the strictly professional level, kind, supportive and distant.  He may have forgotten what a jerk he was the last time I saw him, but I haven't and won't.  Yes, there is a lot of my dad in me.

Dana, on the other hand, did not show up.  Her kids are sick so it appears that she will either show up at a later date or not show up. what ever way it works, it does.

The Iowa Tourism Association misquoted the amount of tourism dollars coming into the state of Iowa in a press release today so we have put out a press release, in a positive vein, correcting the error without sounding pious, at least I hope it doesn't.  The media may pick it up, which would be lovely to get IB out and talked about even more than it already is.

If you don't have a great credit rating but you still want to have a credit card to use you can check out bad credit  (BadCreditOffers.com)  This site will give you free information on how to repair your credit, which bad credit offers are the best of the bad (does that make sense?) and help you obtain a car, home of personal loan that will be the best that you will probably be able to find.

Sometimes you just need to have a credit card, like to be able to rent a car or reserve a hotel room.  If you use it responsibly and pay your bill on time you will be on the way to rebuilding your credit rating which will eventually give you the opportunity to get a better rate on your credit card.  Just keep track of it on this site.

If you are looking for discounts and free shipping the task can be overwhelming.  Where do you look?  How do I find them?  Are they legitimate?  The opportunity to get great deals online is fantastic but you need to know who to trust.

WebbyPlanet.com offers a site that has offers from hundreds of businesses that want you to come to their business and buy from them.  You can shop for anything from shoes to computers, from books to dates and come up with the solution you are looking for at this site.

The site is easy to navigate, its self explanatory.  Just look at what your interest level is.  Do you want free shipping?  If so, go to the link that takes you right to the free shipping list.  You will find the businesses that are willing to ship for "free" with the requirements that need to be met.  It might be a minimum order or it may be truly free shipping.

If you want to see what coupon is expiring so that you can get in before the offer is done they have that ability too.  If you just want to see what different stores have to offer with the coupons that are current you can go directly to those pages.

This site has a great number of options that will fit just what you are looking for.  Check it out; you will certainly be impressed with the site development and the variety of options.

Today was one of those days that I would rather have stayed in bed all day.  I didn't feel good and yet there were things that had to be done so staying in bed was not an option.  Well, I guess it probably was but it didn't seem right so I didn't.

Greg got up before I did so he could go to the auction for the fish club.  He took some stuff up that we don't need or use any longer.  He said there was a great deal of "dry goods" and not many fish at the auction, but that those that had brought fish got a good return on them.  That's a good thing.

I went to the auction in West Point, got a couple things and then came home.  I had so many things to pack to ship that I couldn't stay long, besides, there wasn't anything too great to stay for, and the glassware was really limited.  I did pick up a few things to list; I'll do that in a little while.

My temperature is a little high so I am living on Aleve right now, feel pretty miserable.  Think I have an abscessed tooth, on penicillin so should wipe it out in a couple of days.  It's either a tooth or sinus, not sure which.

Got the laundry going, last load is in.  Need to get everything done so I can get to bed at a decent hour since we are off to DM again at 7 in the morning.  Have two newbies starting at the office so need to be focused and on top of it to get them off to a good start.  Whee :)

I also have to get the information done for the training sessions in Cedar Rapids at the hotel.  I'll do that at the office tomorrow.

Greg called, he's on his way home from the sale, said there must have been a good sized crash on the highway south of CR since traffic was really backed up and over into one lane.

We drove to Altoona for the last race, for us, of the season last night.  We got there a little early because we left in time to stop at Tassle Ridge Winery on the way in to town.  Why?  Well, because Terry had talked to them about advertising on IowaBeautiful and they are interested. He is to call them back this next week.  I thought that it would not be a bad idea to stop in (since it's on the way) and look around and drop the message that we were there because we'd seen about it on IB.  Which is true, I wrote about it for the site.

Anyway, we looked around and bought a couple bottles of wine.  While we were paying the owner we mentioned that we were there because we had seen it ton IB.  Hopefully when Terry calls back she will remember that she got customers from the site and advertise.

The wine we got is nice, smooth, dark and rich.  We will enjoy it with a nice steak at some point.  Greg got a dessert wine that he thought he would enjoy.

Then we went on to the races, got there in time to go to the third floor and find out if the buffet was open for the night.  It was so we got a table up there.  I called John's cell and left a message telling him where we were so they would be able to find us.  We usually sit on the second level, but I wanted to be able to leave after the races and not have to then find someplace to eat which would make it even later by the time we got home.  Worked out well.

Bert had never been to the races so she really got into it, even won one bet worth $10.40.  She was so excited.

Bert seems to be really nice and truly enjoy John.  He just smiles when they are together, sweet.

There are races tonight but we won't be there, then they are done until April.  I think we can probably survive without them, although they have been fun.
