I had the pleasure of visiting with Bill Crossett today. Greg and I had been wondering what he had been up to, whether he was still with Hilton or what so I called. He is with Hilton, a different one then he was, but still managing one in Bridgewater, NJ.
It was fun catching up on all the things that he has going on in his life, kid, wife, in-laws and former associates of ours at Ramada. He sounds happy and well. That's great.
That made me think of John Kress so I called the hotel in Gaylord. He no longer has the hotel, he lost it. They do still have the house and he has a business in Gaylord so apparently they are ok. I called his new business but he wasn't in so I left a message. It's a rough business to be in, which is what we told them when they came to our house to talk about buying the hotel, but all of us have to learn our way.
Greg is next door visiting with Mike (the computer guy in the next office.) I told him that I thought that he would really like Mike and visa versa so he's getting to know him a little. Mike was in Penn. for quite sometime visiting with his dad and looking to see if there were any jobs that he is interested in, he said he did not find any so he's back.

It's difficult to have a site that loads quickly with the information we want but this site loaded in a very quick time. I was impressed with that. I did not think that they had the best prices listed, they will need to spend more time networking and getting in touch with the owners (or managers) of the different properties to get onto their preferred vendor listing for the best rates. But, if they can do that and maintain the speed of loading they will have a leg up on some of the other sites that are out there.
It is supposed to get to 43 here today. That will be nice since it's supposed to drop like a rock this weekend. I just hope that it isn't awful on our way home like it was last week. Crossing the overpass and having the car start the slide was not something that either Greg or I were crazy about!
We got Mable back on Monday, all fixed and in great shape to head to Arizona later next month. It was so nice to get into a smooth riding car after that POS we drove home from here Wed. night. Now, that POS had all the neat things that would be wonderful to have on a new car with the exception of the suspension. It had a "sports spespension" system which was awful. Why would anyone want that?
We are looking forward to seeing the kids, although they were all home this summer, it seems like it was way too long ago!

The drive along the river to get to Bert’s was so pretty. The city has a number of bridges that cross the river and are all lighted, neat sight. There are some unbelievable homes on the bluff overlooking the river. It would be interesting to know the history of some of them. One had a wrap around porch that was probably 15 feet deep and wrapped all the way around the front of the house. They had it all lighted for Christmas, super cool.

Bert’s house is in a nice residential area that she says is really safe. It isn't very big, but sure works for her. John is helping her with lots of little projects to get it the way she wants it. It's very comfortable, although really small. The bedrooms are probably 8×9 and there are three of them. The bathroom is maybe the size of ours upstairs, certainly not any larger.

I'm not sure that her drama club could put it on because of all the singing, but that's what I was thinking. She would love it. There was one actress that looked so much like Heidi that it was spooky! I think Heidi should go into the arts and act or at least dance LOL.
We took our car since I didn't want to ride that far in the POS that we rented! Don't buy a Grand Prix!! It rides like a lumber wagon. Has wonderful "bells and whistles" but that doesn't cut it if the ride is awful….and it is!! I'm taking one of our cars to town tomorrow and Greg is driving the POS. He said it isn't as bad when you are driving.
The repair man called for Greg Friday. Greg was putting up the decorations on the stairwell so I talked to him. He wasn't thrilled to talk to me, he preferred Greg, but did tell me the car is done. He ended up putting a rack in, said ours was the problem and was in awful shape. He is only charging us the cost of the rack, no labor, since he said he should have realized what the problem was before, so it isn't going to be bad at all. Particularly when you take out the cost of the rental which he is paying for….good for us.
