It's March 15th and it's snowing! Regardless of how beautiful Iowa is most of the year this has been way too much…we need to move! Not to another place in Iowa, a place where, if there is snow, it lasts no more than a couple of months. It started snowing here in November and is has been continual since. We aren't used to it and don't like it at all, it is supposed to be spring here now, or close to it!
Thursday will be teacher training day for Greg, he goes at 6 and will get done around 10 which means either we stay in town another night or come home late. We haven't decided yet. Then he starts teaching in April so that will be fun for him.
Hopefully there will be some closings on Monday, we have some that are supposed to go so we'll see. I think Greg and I will get busy on South Dakota. I need to work on Kansas today and get more content in it so I'm closer to being ready to sell it along with Missouri.
I assume that Jake is at basketball practice today, he seems to really enjoy it and I can't think of anything that is better for him. It's great to play on a team and get to know the other kids that are on the team. Being with guys is good for him, just wish we were close enough to see him play, love to have pictures of him for the future. My little man, I love him so much!
There was just a report on Fox News regarding the pastor of the church that Obama has attended for 20 years, the guy retired recently. The pastor was shown talking about how evil the United States goverment is. That although 9/11 was awful the government was responsbile for so many more murders than the 3000 killed at the Twin Towers and on and on.
Then they showed an interview that apparently took place with Senator McCain last night where the reporter tried to get the Senator to state that Obama probably agrees with the pastor. McCain wouldn't do it, he said he knows Senator Obama and that he knows that Obama doesn't agree with the pasor's views and although candidates can't pick the people that support them they don't necessarily agree with all those views of the people that do support them. It was a class answer to a nasty question.
That and Lewinsky were on the news, what a waste of time!!
There truly isn't anything better on a cold winter night than a bowl of hot oyster stew with oyster crackers. Just knowing that you will be able to enjoy something hot and yummy makes the cold seem less unbearable. Getting the family together for dinner while sharing oyster stew can give you a time to actually talk together while enjoying something so tasty. Even teaching your kids that oyster stew is really good can be fun.
Gulf oysters are so good, there are three primary processing methods used; the post harvest process they use to quick freeze the oysters, Heat-cool pasteurization and High pressurization processing. Each of these methods are used to help at risk consumers be able to enjoy these wonderful oysters.
Yes, that's right, snow again. It's hard to take much more of this, people are so tired of the rotten weather that they are actually rather grumpy. Advertisers are saying that the traffic is way down due to all the ice and cold that this winter has thrown at us. It is even affecting the staff, they want warm and people to start shopping.
We will be focusing on more local travel with most of our advertisers since the government is saying that gas prices will be exceeding $3.50 a gallon before June. Great. Even if people were planning to travel they will think twice about going very far with those prices and the fact that most people drive big cars that suck down the gas. We are really hoping that the house sells so that we can stop driving back and forth, it's not inexpensive to make that trip every week. We'll see what happens. Holly said (our realtor) that she sent out information on the house to two different people in the last couple of days so maybe people will start looking again, if they don't have to fight more freezing weather with a pile of snow.
We are going to get together with the gang around 8 for coffee, that is if we still feel like it then, that's really close to jammie time for us LOL
Greg has been busy working on a mailing all day. Hopefully it will do some good. We'll see, it should. We are using the article from the Business Record as the main piece.
The flu seems to be gone, now all I have is the cough which is so bloody irritating. I put mentholatum on my feet before I went to bed (and once earlier) and it seemed to stop it for most of the night. Now it is 4:30 AM and it woke me up so I'm in the living room waiting for the stupid cough to settle down so I can go back to bed for a couple of hours before I have to go to work. I'll put more on my feet when I go back to bed, it should take care of it for a couple more hours, it lasted for 5 hours last time!
The weather here has started to change, the temperature actually got into the 50's Tuesday. Now if the mindset of the advertisers would also improve it would be sweet. It's been much tougher than we anticipated, the people are saying that the winter was so tough they just don't have any money left, and I can believe it. Just keep calling.
Can't be sure, but think I'm at the end of the flu run, I feel better today than I have for the last couple of days. The only thing that I've learned is that the Nyquil stuff really does knock you out for the night, and you wake up with cotton mouth and achy muscles…at least that's what I experienced. Shoot, I slept really well but sure didn't like the after affects.
The Variety Telethon is done for the year. I tried to watch a little of it so that I did see the star do a couple of songs, but the rest of it was so awful I just couldn't force myself to watch it. The band had a sax player that dominated every song he was included with. Now, I like a sax but for some reason he was like fingernails on a blackboard. That and the majority of the singers I saw were so bad that they wouldn't make it at a Karaoke bar! There were two that actually were good (of those few I saw). If I heard the expression, "aren't we having a grand time" one more time I think they could have vied for the Guinness Book of World Records.
Charter has a bidding going on to provide lifetime internet service to those that fit the demographic area they serve. They have put no reserve on the bidding and so it could, but probably won't, go for as little as $10, which is the opening bid.
By going online and registering you can have a chance to win (at no cost) by just registering with an e-mail address and other personal information for a chance to win a Nintendo® Wii™. The winner will receive a Nintendo Wii Console, Wii Stand, 5 Sports games ( Boxing, Baseball, Tennis, Golf and bowling), 1 Remote Controller, 1 Nunchuk Controller, 1 Sensor Bar, 1 Wii AC Adapter, 1 Wii AV Cable. You can go to Click Here for a Chance to Win a Nintendo® Wii™!
How sweet is that? You can have all these games and have it not cost you a dime, that is if you are one of the lucky winners. Also, again, you have to meet the requirements of zip code to be in the Charter service area, but hey, if you are in one, why not give it a go?
This is a terrific offer by Charter, something that is worth looking at and going for. Enjoy playing and perhaps getting your internet service for a really good price, for life!
I may feel like crap, but Greg is taking such good care of me! He just brought me chicken noodle soup cause that, along with my tried and true mentholatum are the two things that should make me well!
I just got the pop up that told me that tomorrow is the County Republican Convention. Although McCain has it locked up, I still think I'll go (I'm a delegate) just to see what happens when there is nothing to choose other than the platform (which is BORING) and doesn't mean crap anyway. But, it will be interesting to see if there is anything else that goes on. I haven't been to one for about 20 years. Of course, that will all depend on whether I feel ok, which I should by then.

Great! It's supposed to be slippery today, we had rain all night and then freezing temperatures. What is it with this "Glodbal Warming" crap? It sure hasn't hit Iowa!!
Greg got the websites for SD and Kansas up with the new design. That is after the server went down!! Geez!
Gotta hit the road, have a great week!
