A Deer and Three Fox - It's Iowa
It was a perfect night for a ride in the convertible, warm, clear and just before sunset. We decided to drive out to Geode State Park near Lowell, Iowa. It's one of our favorite places to just drive around and relax while admiring the deep green of the forest area, the calm water of the lake and the quite.
While slowly driving through the park we saw a young buck near the edge of the forest area. It stopped and looked at us and then just stood there. I suppose it was wondering why two grown people were so fascinated by him, but he was just beautiful! He slowly strolled over to a tree, ate a few leaves and then walked quietly into the tree line. Since I had just said that I hoped we would see a deer, it was like God granted me a wish, just want Him to know I appreciated it.
Then, as we were leaving the area and heading back to home my husband said "look, a fox." There not only was one, there were three standing in the ditch beside a corn field. We stopped and watched them for a few seconds before they decided that we probably didn't have a right to intrude into their evening and bounded into the corn field.
What a lovely way to spend an evening. Being with someone you love, smelling fresh cut hay, admiring the calm waters, the clear sky and seeing animals running free. Doesn't get much better than that. Welcome to Iowa!
