Whether you rent or own your home you need to have insurance.  There are more reasons than a fire, think about what would happen if you walked in to your home to find everything of value gone.  Your insurance would help to cover the cost of replacement.

Or, if, like we do, you live in a historic home and there is damage due to fire or storm, to get the home repaired with the quality of materials and workmanship you want you probably couldn't afford to do it without insurance.  To replace 10' windows would not be a cheap venture and Pella certainly doesn't make ready made windows to fit the size we have.  Therefore, homeowners insurance is critical.

Review the costs of your policy, make sure you understand what is covered with your home insurance and what isn't, then talk to your agent and make any adjustments that are wise and go forward knowing that you are covered!
