It's Hot, It's Humid and The Corn is Growing
When I was a kid my dad used to say that the corn should be knee high by the 4th of July. Now we expect it to be 10 feet tall by the 4th! Hybred! Wow, what a difference it has made. But, regardless, it still grows best when it's hot and humid…like now.
It is so hot that when you are outside for more than a couple of minutes the persperation just pours off your face! If you have to work outside in this heat and humidity I really feel sorry for you! It's awful.
In AZ it gets hotter, and people always say "but it's a dry heat" like that makes a difference. Hot is hot! Go outside here and you prespire, go outside there and you fry. Because I live in the Midwest I obviously prefer the humidity, it doesn't seem to last as long as the heat in the south and we get wonderful thunderstorms that break the heat wave, AZ rarely gets them and never are they as refeshing as they are in the Midwest.
Our kids live in AZ, they say one of the things they really miss is the sound of a thunderstorm. I think it's just because they would rather be boiled than broiled!
Just my thoughts.
