The Auction of Filthy Stuff…But Good Stuff
Oh my gosh, we went to an auction yesterday that was unbelievable. This lady's estate was something you hear about but don't think you will ever see yourself. She had two houses (one of them was sold yesterday with the stuff) and the other is to be done later, I guess.
The house was filled to the brim with boxes and stuff, only a pathway through for the placement of more stuff when she got it. The auctioneers took months to go through all the stuff and get it ready for sale. They had been selling some of the stuff at other auctions for months just to give them room to move around.
She had things from other countries, primarily
The lot two doors over from her property was filled with trailers full of stuff (8 I think) that was sold first. The house was surrounded with trailers and tables packed with stuff. She had enough silverware (not necessarily good stuff) to supply the city of
The stuff was so dirty that we wore gloves to look through the boxes, there were mouse droppings, spider webs, dirt (literally piles of it) and wasps in the boxes. Not a charming thing to dig through but there were some treasures in some of them that you really wanted to be able to get to and buy right.
The sale went on for hours with 2 auctioneers working 2 separate rings and it still went from 9 am to 4 pm.
Now, think about your house, do you have a bunch of stuff that you should get rid of? If so, do it, don't leave it for the auctioneer to clean up…shoot, that was disgusting! But, we got some good stuff that we are listing on eBay so it was probably worth going, and it was fun!
