Vacation Ideas for a Tour

Things to do in Las Vegascan set up a tour for you that will give you the opportunity to see things that you would miss if you were on your own.  Now,  not being a Las Vegas fan I  wanted to write about beautiful San Francisco.

When we were in San Francisco we took a tour of Alcatraz and realized just how miserable a place like that would be to spend you years!  The cells are tiny, the privacy is not existent, I'm sure the food was less than 4 star and the isolation complete from the mainland.  I can't imagine what it was like for the families that wanted to visit the inmates.  Now, we know that most of those that were incarcerated at Alcatraz were less than exemplary and so thinking about visitors is rather difficult, but they certainly had family and associates that would come, probably.

Pulling up to the island didn’t prepare us for the long walk up to the prison, or for the confined feeling that overwhelms you as you enter the prison itself.  It was easy to see how the violence of the lifestyle could be prevalent and how fights would break out, how punishment would need to be harsh to keep things under control and how glad a prisoner would be to get released from the island.  Although the view of San Francisco is wonderful when the fog isn’t surrounding the prison, the view would only accentuate the feeling of isolation.  It’s beautiful, but they couldn’t get there and although many tried the guide told us that only two had actually escaped and they doubt, understandably, that they made it across the bay to the city.  The waters are rough, cold and it’s a long swim.
